Faith

"When you come to the end of all the light you know,
and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown,
faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen:
either you will be given something solid to stand on, or you will be taught to fly."

Plastics #1 & #2

A few years ago I watched a tv show, Undercover Boss, where they were giving inside details into Waste Management, the trash collector, garbage removal, recycling program company; in this segment they showed how the employees working the incoming recycling items sorting the plastics not numbered 1 or 2 from those numbered 1 & 2.  So what do they do with those plastics not numbered 1 or 2?  They take these plastics off the conveyor belt and add them to a rather large collection behind them.  Alright now, what happens to that large pile of the plastics not numbered 1 and 2?  They are sent to another facility which can recycle all plastics, numbers on the plastics do not matter!

What a concept, one facility that can take and recycle all numbers of plastics, even those plastics without a number on their body.  So why are we all paying our cities to take only those plastics with two special numbers?  Why not work with the recycling companies who are set up to receive all plastics?

How can this be changed?

Hopefilled Canine Canyon

This is such an amazing, heroic, and heartwarming story about a dog, a slot canyon, and a canyoneering caring man: Canine Canyon .  However the dog got in this canyon I am relieved he had hope and kept breathing and being; if there is a human involved with the dog getting deep into this canyon, karma will find this person, haunt them and make them peel out their own eyes!  A bit dramatic you say?  Not in my opinion.

Has this hope believing dog been adopted yet?  I am not sure but would love to know the answer is YES soon!  Maybe you are going to adopt him - things do happen for a reason ;)

What the Frack?!*

What the Frack is Going On?

This video is a must see, Life magazine put together top videos and this made it on!  There are other great videos to see too - this fracking really caught my attention though.

Rox in the Box

The Decemberists

Breaking Bodies To Eat

I eat them when I'm hungry, when I'm full, when its dark outside, when the sun is barely peeking to being a new day, and when the sun is high.  Their bodies lie in a scattered pile on the counter, with an occasional body part falling to the floor.  Every now and then when I break one in half the insides jump out and either roll across the counter trying to hide from me, but I always find my prey, or it falls onto the floor, no matter though, the 10 second rule always applies to these tasty guys.

Its not just one or two but usually close to 20, then a few more.  How can I stop breaking these small bodies to get the delicious part when they are...well, so delicious?  A one pound package is just no enough for a few days.  What am I to do when they are out of season?  There must be a rehab facility for those like me.  Not that I am admitting I have an addiction.

I dare you to try a few and walk away - for good!

Day for Small Businesses

Yesterday was "Support Small Business Day", which I would have done but I happily gave my time to the dogs (then homework) instead. I am happy we have this day and hope for more than one day a year to support small businesses, my only regret is the many Americans out of work supporting other American businesses where there products are made in China, not here...at home.

Never Let Me Go

As I was driving away from campus tonight, I heard the most amazing song - really only the last minute, but enough to know this woman's voice is beautiful and she makes the song even more so; take a listen for yourself and let me know your thoughts: Never Let Me Go . Many others have sang this song, all amazing!  But tonight I will focus on Rachel Portman and her great talent.

Gold Litered Floor

Driving up the brilliant lit canyon of yellows, gold’s, greens, teals, burnt oranges, bright reds, and rust making the scene around every corner, and around every corner different yet glorious than the last.  We hang right of our usual path and drive some distance, hoping the afternoon sun isn’t running fast away from us, but keeping a distance almost in reach yet just barely out of.

Finally coming to a stop, all three of us are eager to stretch our legs, smell the distinctive Fall scent, and feel the cool, crisp air of Fall on our faces, on our hands and through our clothes.  Slowing our feet to a stop to hear the flicking of the Aspen leaves as they rustle in the wind in their dried out condition are harmonious and soothing to the soul.  The ground littered with gold coins, even the pine trees carried these coins on their needles as if they were of value, decorated for good will.

The ground is dry is most areas, yet moist in small places where the beams of the sun don’t reach during the shorter days.  We found a rock weighing approximately three pounds, being of eight inches in length, four inches wide, and two inches deep; astonished by the geological life line we witnessed, each line is distinctive in the hundreds of years it has been here.  Quite an old rock it was, just laying on the ground, still, hidden within plants and trees and sticks and dirt and fallen leaves; today, only those on foot would have found it.  Perhaps in its past, it has been rolled, thrown, ran over, jumped on, and overlooked many times, and yet today was the first in a long time, or perhaps its first in all time, it has been held by caring, inquisitive hands and awed over its fantastic appearance.

Driving back down, a couple windows lowered to feel the cold, crisp air of the canyon rushing through and bringing leaving chicken skin on my arms.  This may be the last time this season to been in the magnificent beauty of Fall.  Savoring each view, each chill, and each inspired moment.  To next year!

Socks like to play games while being dried

While its playing hide n seek or playing "The dryer monster ate me", socks tend to get funny personalities while being flopped around in the dryer with other fabrics.

Last Sunday during my last break of my eight hour shift at work, I sat at a table where the sun was laying upon it, hitting the silver framework on the chairs and bouncing around the room; all the while tricking my mind into feeling the warmth of the sun even though it was a chilly 40 degrees inside and out.  A man walked up to the gelato bar, standing in front of me; as I watch him deciding on which gelato flavor to try, I notice a white piece of fabric attached to his butt, as I pay closer attention I see it is a white ankle length sock clinging onto the Velcro strap on his right back pant pocket.  I lean in a little as I am going to get his attention to let him know of this but at that moment his wife (I am assuming) and young teenage son walk up to him, as the lady starts angrily telling this man what gelato flavor he should try and what he will like better (she was not being nice and listening to her guy as to the flavor he was telling her he wants to try), his son stood behind him - with his wife’s ‘attention to detail’ I would have guessed that she would have seen this long before he stepped out of their house, and his son – I would have guessed wouldn’t want to be embarrassed by his dad if they ran into any of his friends or school mates.  With these two people in his life, they could have so kindly informed him of this funny picture, I just relax back into my seat and grinned.

This reminds me about another laundry incident many years ago; one early morning as the custodian manager and I were going over quality control issues in the restaurant, there was something white on his jeans near his ankle that kept distracting me, I finally looked down and saw a dryer sheet peeking out of one of the legs in his jeans.  Chuckling some I said, “Todd, your pants look clean and smell fresh from the dryer.”  He caught my gaze and saw what I was seeing, the rest of the day we laugh quietly to ourselves about it.  Good thing it was at six in the morning when there were only four people in the restaurant and not 200.

What are the lessons I learned from these experiences?  To give myself a “once over” and to look in the mirror before leaving the house!  I also learned not to dictate to others or not let anyone dictate for me – how annoying dictators are.

Life

Life is short, live it. Love is rare, grab it. Anger is bad, dump it. Fear is awful, face it. Memories are sweet, cherish it.

Beagle Needs a Great, Loving Home!

My friends are hoping to find great people to adopt their dog, Bay Bay, someone who will give her the proper attention and exercise needed, a home who will be able to care for her and love her.  Bay Bay is a Beagle who has a lot of energy and love to give!  She is four years old with no health issues, she weights a healthy 25 pounds and as of Memorial Day weekend, her shots are current.  I should have a few pictures soon to upload so you all can see how fun and cute she is!

If you are interested, or know of anyone who might be, I will give your contact information to my friends.

Thank you for reading, having compassion and forwarding this on to others!

Peace,

Angela
