Nice Lady and Phone Calls

Earlier today I pull into a local grocery store parking lot when I receive a long awaited phone call, of course I answer my phone, start my conversation as I am parking my car; not wanting to go inside the store while on the phone and definitely not wanting to hang up, I loiter around while Rose does her business on the nearby lawn.  Rose begins to venture off (she does this when I am occupied), and she finds a nice lady parked by us with her hatch open at the back of her car, Rose of course makes herself known by trying her hardest to smell inside each bag her nose can reach into.  Good thing this lady loves dogs (she said this to me, that's how I know), otherwise the situation could have been bad.

It is now I feel a bit guilty for not talking to this lady even a little bit, but if she only knew how long I have waited for this phone call, she may have understood...maybe.  In the meantime, she let Rose lick her face, she kissed Rose's forehead, she even got into her car, open a water bottle and let Rose drink it from her hand; hello!  Could she not see I was on my phone and very occupied?  At the same time as keeping a watch on my baby so she is safe.

Hopefully this nice lady forgives me for not ending my day filled, long awaited, smile wearing phone conversation to converse with her; I have completely forgiven her ;)

Dessert

Tonight I realized why I don't get so excited about desserts; usually when dessert is being served it is for a special occasion, right?  Its not every night where dessert is served, at least how I was raised.

In my family, these special occasions come with gifts attached.  For me, having one of my loved ones open a gift I have found for them is so much better than eating that sweet, delicious dessert.  There are other ways to celebrate a great meal after it has been consumed by the hungry and the happy.

Cheers!

I am not sold on these yet because of their tiny structure, but they sure do have a great marketing department.

What I miss about Utah

These are the things I miss about Utah (notice I did not mention people, I don't want to bawl my eyes off my face for this post), in no particular order:

*the majestic mountains;  not only their sheer beauty and grace, but the sense of direction they have given me day after day.
*the phrases: "Oh my heck!"  and "Oh my gosh!"
  * Rubio's Fresh Mexican Grill...ummmm the scrumptious fish tacos, their tangy sauce dripping down my arms racing to my elbows, escaping the napkins!
*Dunkin Donuts on every corner instead of LDS church houses...wait, isn't that the other way around...I don't miss that - where am I? Who is typing this?
 * Those nifty few inches on the sides of roads where you can pull over and idle or park (some call them shoulders, I now call them nifty)!  Driving along the beautiful country roads (which are everywhere) and I see the perfect picture to take, but there is no where to pull over and park the car to take this photo; or when I am lost or a bit turned around, I have to keep driving because I can't just pull over and get oriented again.
*Beans n Brews coffee house; small, simple, friendly, and delightful.

*Mimi's Cafe and thier delicious homemade muffins and red potato delight!
*Waking up to snow topped Mt. Timpanogos (I know its there sitting on top already)
*KUTV Channel 2 Morning news crew

Just a few I think about from time to time.

In a Nutshell

Yesterday I was talking to a new friend and of course she asked why I moved out here from Utah; my simple response went something like this, "In a nutshell, I tell my husband (because he still is) I no longer want to be married, weeks after that I put down one of my best friends of 13 years, then weeks after that my husband (because he still is) moves out, I am now left in a house which has gone into foreclosure and anticipating the bank knocking on the door, and with no money in my bank account, I figure  "Why not make the extreme move?"  So here I am."  She ponders that for awhile then puts the largest smile on her face and says, "Well, welcome!"
